The E-bike Charging Assistant You Need

April 29, 2014

The Belkin Conserve Socket Timer is designed to automatically shut off powered and power-standby electronics after a set time interval of 30 minutes, 3 hours or 6 hours. Why is this important for e-bike owners? Battery protection, energy savings and safety.

Battery protection
If you leave your battery charging beyond a full charge, you are risking damage to your battery and charger. Frequent over-charging does the battery no good and will ultimately shorten the life of the system.

Energy savings
Like many of your home electronics, battery chargers continue to consume energy in stand-by mode. Once charged, the work is done and the unit should be disengaged from the power source in order to conserve unneeded energy.

Most electric bike systems come equipped with smart chargers and battery management systems. However, like all electronics, they can fail. Failed sensors may force batteries to overheat, melt and (gasp) combust!

If you'd like to learn more about the Belkin Conserve Socket Timer, check out the product homepage. For Electric Bike Central customers, just ask the next time you're in the shop. We always keep a few extras around.
